Community Events
Thomas McAfee Funeral Home has always recognized the privilege and duty of contributing to the community in which we live and work. From our founding by Thomas F. McAfee, Sr. in 1913, to the fourth generation active in the business today, we continue our commitment to giving back to the community.
Community Education Programs
Thomas McAfee Funeral Home sponsors programs for those who are grieving and for professional caregivers every year in the fall. A noted national authority on death, dying and grief is brought in to address the general public and professional caregivers. A special program is also held for ministers to help provide information useful to them in the important role they play in the process of dying and bereavement. These seminars are one of many ways we show our care doesn't end with the funeral.
 Special Programs
"Holiday Service Of Remembrance" and "Tree of Memories"
Our annual holiday service is a time to remember loved ones who have died in the past year. Practical suggestions are provided and emotions are explored in this meaningful service where those who have experienced a loss come together for support. The "Holiday Service Of Remembrance" is provided free of charge by the McAfee family and staff and is held at both locations of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home on a date between Thanksgiving and Christmas of each year. An engraved brass ornament that can be hung on our "Tree of Memories" is provided to the family as part of the service.
"The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting"
"The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting" is held the second Sunday of December at 7 p.m. (local time) for one hour around the globe. It commemorates and honors children of all ages who have died from any cause and transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries. The local candle lighting service will be held at the Downtown location of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home on December 9, 2007.
