Ariail Shaw, 93, widower of Helen Grogan Shaw, died Monday, May 11, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Ethel Scott and Augustus C. Shaw.

Mr. Shaw graduated from Parker High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Pioneer AM 105 and the U.S.S. Bernice during World War II. He was retired from United Insurance Company of America. He was a member of Dunean Baptist Church.

Surviving are a niece, Rebecca Grogan of Greenville and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Staton; a brother, J. P. “Bill” Shaw; a nephew, Alvin W. Staton; and a niece, Lynn Altom .

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the general fund at Dunean Baptist Church, 21 Allen Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
