Arthur Carson Spencer, Jr., 83, of 407 Spring Forest Road, widower of Sarah Faye Mahaffey Spencer, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at McCall Hospice House. Born in Pickens County he was a son of the late Arthur Carson and Deanne Miller Spencer. Mr. Spencer was retired from Sylvania and was a United States Navy veteran. He was a charter member of Edwards Road Baptist Church, where he was past deacon and Sunday school teacher. Surviving are three daughters, Elaine Reese and her husband, Haskell, of Greenville, Ivy Edwards and her husband, George, of Taylors, Lisa Rodgers of Greenville; a son, Mark Spencer of Greenville; and grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Spencer. Memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes.
