Beatrice "Aunt Bea" Cagle, 86 of 400 Old Highway 25, Travelers Rest, died Friday, November 13, 2009. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Lawrence and Bertha Barton Barnett and wife of 59 years of the late Calvin G. Cagle. She was a homemaker and a member of Marietta First Baptist Church. Mrs. Cagle served in the W.M.U., North Greenville Association for many years, where she served in many capacities. She has been a full time "Literacy Home Mission" volunteer since 1973 and added a class room in 1978. Mrs. Cagle taught English to migrant workers and at Givens Correctional Center. She taught Sunday School at Stroud Nursing Home until her death. Mrs. Cagle received the Baptist State Literacy award for 1999. She took Literacy Training at the Baptist Conference Center, Ridgecrest, N.C. in 1973 and the Southern Seminary, Louisville, KY. in 1974. She is survived by three sisters, Myrtle Hudson, of Travelers Rest, Peggy Jarrell, of Greer, Dorothy Ray, of Greenville; three nieces, Wanda Campbell, of Piedmont, Sandra Harris, of Travelers Rest, Karen Fleming, of Easley; and many other nieces, nephews, students and families. Mrs. Cagle was predeceased by one sister, Marjorie Pittman. The service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Marietta First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee, Northwest. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Marietta First Baptist Church, Senior Fund, 2936
