Bernard Wortkoetter

Bernard Henry Wortkoetter, 80, husband of Annabelle Schmitt Wortkoetter, died Saturday, June 2, 2012 at his residence. Born in Glandorf, OH, he was the son of the late Louis Wortkoetter and Clara Kolhoff Wortkoetter. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later worked as a manufacturing engineer. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville, as well as The Knights of Columbus. Ben enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, reading and spending time with great friends. Most of all, he loved God and provided his children and grandchildren with a strong foundation, a comfortable smile, and unconditional love. In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two daughters, Connie Wortkoetter and Carla Jean Rudolph Benton; five sons, David Wortkoetter Juanita, Steve Wortkoetter Angie, Gary Wortkoetter Frances, Bryan Wortkoetter Joni, and Daniel Wortkoetter Tammy; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Cecelia Walling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Cook; granddaughter, Alicia Cook; four sisters; and two brothers. The Recitation of the Rosary will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday June 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
