July 22, 1931 - May 5, 2012
Bert Morris King, 80, widow of Richard Cary King, Sr., of Greenville, died Saturday May 5, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Samuel Morris and Cressie C. Morris. Mrs. King attended Winthrop College and Anderson University. Bert retired from the financial division of Dow Chemical Company. She later retired from Julie's Jewels and Gifts. She was a member of First Baptist Greenville, and the Kendrick Sunday school class. Surviving are daughter, Takka McCord and husband P.J., of Charlotte, NC; a son, Cary King and wife, Sherri of Belton, SC; a grandson, Cale Harbin and wife, Brittany of Greenville, SC; and two great grandchildren, Grant and Caroline Harbin; and sister, Ann M. Lindsey of Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert W. Morris, Jerry M. Morris and Mendell L. Morris, all of Anderson, SC. Visitation will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. with the memorial service following at 5:00 p.m. The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Sarah Simpson Gossett Home, 27 Conestee Avenue, Greenville, SC 29605.
