Bobbie Speck

September 8, 1929 - August 23, 2014
Bobbie J. Speck, 84, of Greenville, loving wife of Thomas M. Speck for 66 years, died Saturday, August 23, 2014. Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt and Thelma Smith. Mrs. Speck was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church. She graduated from Parker High School in 1946 and worked 37 years with Steel Heddle Manufacturing Company. Bobbie also worked at the Furman Food Services for 17 years. She had numerous beloved friends that brought her much happiness. Her joy in life was to bring happiness to others. She is survived by one beloved daughter, Cindy Hester Steve; two special grandchildren, Brandon Hester Lindsey and Heather Leigh Philpot Joe; two cherished great grandchildren, Haleigh and Claire Philpot; and a sister, Francis Locke Bob. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Bill Smith; and a great grandchild, Josie Leigh Philpot. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Monaghan Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery West. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels in Greenville, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605 or Monaghan Baptist Church Golden Agers Fund, 1500 West Parker Road, Greenville, SC 29617.
