Bobby Garren

Bobby Gene Garren of 216 Redspine Drive died Friday, October 8th after an extended battle with cancer. He was 78 years old. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Wayman H. Garren Sr. and Marie Fortune Garren of Easley. He was retired from the United States Air Force after attaining the rank of Senior Master Sargent. He faithfully served his country for 21 years at various posts all over the world including duty in Vietnam. He was proud to serve and go anywhere his country needed him. After his retirement from the military, he was involved in information technology with several companies in North and South Carolina. He loved activities that involved numbers, so in his senior years, he worked for H & R Block. He loved helping people in this capacity and they were very loyal to him. Many came to him year after year for help and and he faithfully served them as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Marchbanks Garren, of the home. He is also survived by three sons; Robert E. Garren Susan of High Point NC, Michael A. Garren Kathy of Greenville, and Jon David Garren Caroline of Bailey NC. Mr. Garren was also blessed with four granddaughters; Ashley, Allison and Anna Grace of Bailey, NC and Emily of High Point, NC. Mr. Garren is also survived by a brother, Wayman H Garren Jr. Betty Lois of Greenville. Mr. Garren was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher Garren and a brother, Jack O. Garren. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10th at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Remembrance Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of Greenville, the Furman University Paladin Club or Berea First Baptist Church Pass It On Campaign Fund. The family is at the home.
