Clyde Worthy

April 7, 1923 - April 11, 2005
Clyde Worthy, 82, formerly of 706 Palmetto Avenue, widower of Ruby Cureton Worthy, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at Hospice of the Upstate. Born in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Brunnie Worthy Gutherie. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the railroad. Mr. Worthy was a United States Army Veteran having served during WWII where he was involved in three invasions in the Pacific Theatre. Surviving are three daughters, Helen Page, Brenda Worthy, and Sherry Wood all of Greenville; a son, Eddy Worthy of Laurens; two sisters, Betty Neff of Hendersonville, Lee Looper of Dacusville; eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2005 from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Marietta. The family will be at 205 Autumn Drive, Greenville.
