Donald ?Matt? M. Merritt, Jr., 42, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Born in Richland County, SC., he was a son of Don and Nellie Cannon Merritt of Powdersville. He was a joy to all who knew him. Matt Merritt was employed with Piedmont Skills. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Easley. Surviving, in addition, to his parents, are his paternal grandmother, Minnie Merritt of Hartwell, GA.; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Cannon of Easley; sisters, Christine Merritt and Kathy Doherty both of Mechanicsburg, PA., Michelle Shore and her husband Daren of Fountain Inn, two nieces, Jessica and Jennifer Shore; a nephew, Taylor Shore; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly. Memorials may be made to Greenville Community Residence, 158 Cavalier Drive, Greenville, SC 29607. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 4, 2006 at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home.
