Dora Louetta Pittman Ellenburg, 83, was called home to Heaven on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023.
Dora was a daughter of Alex P. Pittman and Lillie Mae Carlton Pittman. She was born the seventh of ten children. Dora had a twin sister, Nora Pittman Vinson, with whom she was very close, until Nora’s passing two years ago at the age of 81.
Dora grew up in Greenville, SC and graduated from Parker High School. She was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. In 1960, she married Jerry Ellenburg, they had one son, Arlen Randal “Randy” Ellenburg. Shortly after Jerry passed away in 1985, Dora went to work at Stone Manufacturing as a seamstress and retired after many years of service with them.
In 1992, Dora was introduced to gentleman by the name of Richard Robinson. She and Richard were blessed to enjoy the last 31 years together, laughing and caring for each other. Along with Richard, she gained a loving daughter, Lynn Robinson and a large Robinson family.
Dora was a kind and loving person, who enjoyed caring for her family and always put their needs ahead of her own. She always provided a home filled with love and an open door to anyone that may need a willing ear or a gentle hug. When Dora was not caring for others you could find her staying busy by cooking, making clothes or working in her yard. However, some of her favorite times would be when she Nora would set out on their little adventures of going shopping, visiting family or just heading out to see where the day led them. One thing is for sure, wherever Dora was you knew that you would be in the presence of love, laughter and positivity. She was always quick with a joke and a laugh that would light up the room. In the past years as her health began to fail, she never complained. She was always upbeat and continued to do the one thing that made her the happiest, caring for herself and Richard. She was fighter to the very end.
Left to cherish her memory, are her son, Arlen Randal “Randy” Ellenburg (Miriam); loving companion of 31 years, Richard Robinson; bonus daughter, Lynn Robinson(Tony); grandchildren, Olivia Ellenburg Martin, Joshua Ellenburg, Camryn Bailey and Kyle Bailey; sisters-in-law, Reta Pittman, Maryann Pace, Evon Jones and Marie Robinson; and brother-in-law, Frank Robinson. She will also be missed, by many nieces and nephews, that she loved and care for so much.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dora was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Henson, Rosie Lee Gosnell, Bertie Sue Jennings and her twin, Nora Vinson; and five brothers, Alex Preston Pittman, Jr., Wofford Pittman, David Pittman, Heyward Pittman and Ralph Pittman, Sr.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West.
