Elmer McCombs

Elmer P. McCombs, 83, of Marietta, husband of the late Helen Duncan McCombs for 60 years, died Saturday, February 2, 2013. Born in Marietta, he was a son of the late Lillie and John Thomas McCombs, Sr. Mr. McCombs was retired from J.P. Stevens, Slater Plant where he worked as a supervisor. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Steve McCombs and wife Libby; two grandchildren, Christy McCombs and Angie Brennan; six great grandchildren, Austin McIntyre, Gabe and Cady McKinney, Cale and Cody Maybin, and Graci Emery; three sisters, Mary Roper B.J.; Peggy Dunn Michael; Pat Cureton Thomas; two brothers, Bill McCombs Vivian; and Mike McCombs Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Epps, and a brother, John T. McCombs, Jr. Visitation will be held Monday, February 4, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 11 Brendan Way, Greenville, S.C. 29615. The family will be at the home of Mike and Kathy McCombs.
