John Ernest Milsap, 89, of 7 Edgewood Drive, husband of Carolyn Hart Milsap, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at St. Francis, Downtown. Born in Ellijay, GA, he was the son of the late John Richard and Annie Mae Davis Milsap. Mr. Milsap was retired from J.P. Stevens-Dunean following 62 years of service and following retirement worked 13 years with American Security. He was a member of Wesley Memorial Southern Methodist Church where he was a founding Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid sports fan and was inducted into the Dunean Hall of Fame. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Tina Ann Milsap of Greenville; a son, Richard Milsap and wife, Sharan, of Anderson; a granddaughter, Ashley Stamper and husband, John, of Greer; a sister, Margaret Thackston; and a brother, Jimmy Milsap. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
