Fred Rampey

On 29 May, 2013 Fred Rampey, 83, transferred his citizenship from this earth to Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Betty Davenport Rampey, and one Son, Fred Rampey, Jr. of Ft. Collins, CO, his wife, Cindy, and two grand-children, Erin Rampey and Tyler Rampey.
Mr. Rampey was born in Piedmont, SC. He was a member of a family of 13 children. He was predeceased by his parents, John Samuel Rampey and Marion Major Rampey; four brothers John W., Curtis, Major, and Leon Rampey; and three sisters Helen Mullinax, Ruby McCall, and Mary Sprouse. He is survived by four brothers: Joe, Marshall, Paul, and Robert Rampey and one sister, Doris Higgins.
He served two years in the US Army during the Korean War. After receiving a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1958, he accepted a position with the Tennessee Valley Authority at Chattanooga where he served in various positions. He was Project Manager of Transmission Engineering when he retired from TVA in 1988. While in Chattanooga he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He served on the Church Board and taught a Sunday School Class, and he and Betty went on three mission trips with members of the church to Brazil, Ecuador, and Mexico.
Mr. Rampey and Betty moved to Beverly Hills, Florida in 1997, and were active members of the Hernando Church of the Nazarene. There, he served on the Church Board and taught a Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at Piedmont Weslyan Church, 506 Anderson Street, Piedmont, on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Buddy Rampey officiating.
Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
