Gary Blanton

August 5, 1950 - April 13, 2015
Gary Blanton, 64, husband of Nikki Doulaveris Blanton, went home Monday, April 13, 2015.
Born in Statesboro, GA, he was the son of Mary Jane Goldsmith Blanton Shaffer and the late Olin Harry Blanton.

Mr. Blanton was employed by Fluor Corporation for 35 years.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are son, Jonathan Gary Blanton and girlfriend, Kami McDavid, of Greenville; sisters, Beverly Goldsmith of Seattle, WA, Pam Creasy and husband, Jack, of Simpsonville, and Bobbie Mercer and husband, Mark, of Mauldin; brother, Paul Blanton, and wife, Connie, of Aiken; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by daughter, Kristen Diane Blanton; sister, Mary Pat Blanton; nephew, Daniel Mercer; stepfather, Fred Shaffer; step nephew, Nick Romano; Visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A service celebrating his life will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel.

I lived on Mills Avenue and this was in 1962 - 1963. Myself, Toby Blankenship, and Donnie Schultz and Gary had some times together. Not much to do back then but our imaginations kept us busy and out of trouble. Beverly, Pam, and Paul I remember you guys all too well.
