Gilbert Rogers, 87, husband of Elinor Wood Rogers, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Oakmont East Living Center. Born in Lockhart, SC, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Myrtle Keasler Rogers. Mr. Rogers was retired from JP Stevens and a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Gib Rogers of Lexington, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Roger Brown of Greer; three grandchildren, Heather Rogers, Jeremy and Justin Brown; and a sister, Grace Chandler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Ammons and Dorothy Toby. Memorials may be made to Pendleton Street Baptist Church, 111 S. Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601 or Miracle Hill Ministries, PO Box 2546, Greenville, SC 29602. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence, 113 E. Wilburn Avenue, Greenville.

I have known The Rogers all my life. I remember his faith and how it shone in his life. This made a hugh impression on me as a child. I see him in Heaven, at Jesus' feet. Love to Mrs. Rogers, Jean and Gib.
