Haruko McGrath of Simpsonville, wife of Richard A. McGrath, died November 14, 2013. Born in Okinawa, Japan she was the daughter of Ryosho Nakama and Gozei Miyagi. Haruko was a retired seamstress from the Wedding Place and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and bowling. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Karen Howard and her husband, Bryan; her son, Eugene McGrath and his girlfriend, Elizabeth; two grandchildren, Madison and Kailey Howard; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, in the chapel of the funeral home, with entombment following at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

To my Aunt Haruko. I hold dear many childhood memories of you. Your incredible skill with needle and thread was inspiring as my mother patiently taught me to sew. As you now walk with God, know that I have thought and admired you often over the years.
