Phil Lichtenfeld left a message on July 17, 2017:
I am presently visiting in Riga, Latvia, and naturally thought of the only person I have known of Latvian heritage, Ivy Dzelzitis. I found this sad news in my online search. I met Ivy from her first year at Washington University in St. Louis. I knew Ivy to be a special soul, of inner and outer beauty, who always carried herself with dignity. She left a positive deep and lasting impression, although I have not had contact with her since the 1970's I have often thought of her with fondness. If Henry or any of the others who have given tributes here would contact me, I would love to know more of her later life.May she rest in peace and may her memory serve as a blessing to all who knew her.Phil Lichtenfeld818-784-7784

Ivy is in a place without pain and suffering. She is beginning her new life with Christ. Thanks be to God for her life here.

Ivy touched many lives with the depth of her feeling and the breadth of her knowledge. She will appreciate the allusion to John Keats, who described himself as one whose "name was writ in water." Ivy's name was also "writ in water" -- but it was "writ"
