J.B. ?Buck? Friar, 86, formerly of 24 North Davis Drive, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at Oakmont East Nursing Center. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Mack and Mae Land Friar and husband of the late Helen Frances Couch Friar. Mr. Friar was a graduate of Parker High School Class of 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and also served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Cee Bees. He was a retired employee of St. Francis Hospital as an electrician and was also previously employed with Woodside and Brandon Mills. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Ingle and husband Bobby, of Travelers Rest; a son, James Barry Friar, of Greenville; a sister, Inez Robbins, of Greenville; three granddaughters, Mrs. Alisa B. Jones, Mrs. Rhonda B. Nabors, and Ms. Julie Bolick; six great grandchildren, Hyland Sawyer, Colby Nabors, Annsley Nabors, Jarrett Leopard, Aiden Nabors, and Isabella Bolick. Mr. Friar was predeceased by his twin children, Rhonda and David Friar. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation from 11:30 am ? 1:15 pm prior to the service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West.
