J.C. Ivester

J.C. ?Jake? Ivester, 78, husband of Ovie Ellenburg Ivester, died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Laurel Baye Nursing Center. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Claude and Ruth Oxner Ivester. Mr. Ivester was a self-employed woodworker and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Augusta Road Kiwanis Club, a Hejaz Shriner, a former member of the Greenville County Planning Commission, an organizer of the Belmont Fire Department, and was a long time high school football official. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Mary Frances Brock of Greenville, Nancy Alley of Naples, FL., Laura Ann Rasberry of Piedmont, Sandra Lee Ivester of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Brandon Mathis, Evan Ivester, Charlie Rasberry, Benji Moore, Buffie Parks, Abby Spivey, and Isaac Alley; eight great grandchildren, Logan Moore, Josh, Gabriel, and Noah Parks, Lauren, Kaci, Tina, and Haley Spivey. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Rasberry; three brothers, James, Doyle, and M.A. ?Mac? Ivester; and two aunts, Lottie and Hallie Ivester, who helped raise him. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605 or Southern Care Hospice, 1097 Highway 101 South, Suite D-11, Greer, SC 29651. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
