Reverend Jim Murphy, widower of Gail Poole Murphy, died at his residence on Saturday, August 4, 2007. Born in Greenville, he was the son of Ernestine Slater Murphy and the late Thurman Craft Murphy. For many years, Rev. Murphy was the pastor of Westside Assembly of God and currently a member of Southside Assembly of God. He was also a sales manager at Titan Industrial. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three daughters, Cindy Pullman and husband Allan of St. Cloud, FL, Janet Willis and husband Kevin of Easley, Cristie Hall and husband Craig of Greenville; a son, Tony Murphy and wife Donna of Lakeland, FL; eight grandchildren, Donny Watson, Christopher Watson, Shane Murphy, Dylan Hall, Emily Kellett, Zachary Shoemaker, Chase Willis, and Madison Willis; four sisters, Frances Reily of Greenville, Grace Bell of Greenville, Barbara Fortner of Easley, and Donna Burton of Greenville; and a brother Carl Murphy of Easley. Flowers are accepted; however, should friends desire, memorials may be made to The Meyer Center for Special Children, 1132 Rutherford Rd., Greenville, SC 29609 or Hospice Care of SC, 600 E. Washington St., #150, Greenville, SC 29601. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral Services will be at the Downtown Chapel Wednesday at noon. Burial will follow at Graceland West Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
