Johny Banister

Johny Donald Banister, 88, of Greenville, widower of Gladys Rice Banister, died June 7, 2013. Born in Anderson, SC on February 18, 1925, Mr. Banister was the son of the late J.W. and Mattie Smith Bannister. Mr. Banister was a retired textile machinist and member of West Gantt First Baptist Church. He served in WWII in the Army and was a life member of the VFW Post 1845. He was also member of the Dunean masonic Lodge # 359. Mr. Banister was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Banister is survived by 2 sons Jerry Banister Andrea and William Banister Joyce, step brother Luther Bannister, step sister Louise Dean, 5 grandchildren; Donald, Stacie, Jason, Dawn, and Kelly; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Rice Banister, his parents, and one great-grand child. The funeral service will be Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2 pm at West Gant First Baptist Church with visitation prior from 12:15 pm – 1:45. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Gantt First Baptist Church building fund.
