Joseph ?Joe? T. Bannister, 52, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006 at his home. A native of Piedmont, he was the son of Fleet Banister of Piedmont and the late Mary Smith Banister. He dedicated his life as a Funeral Director, helping families in their time of need, for over 30 years and was former owner of Bannister Transportation. He was also an associate with American Investigative Services. He was a member of Earle Street Baptist Church, the Piedmont Masonic Lodge #166, and a Scottish Rite Hejaz Shriner. Mr. Bannister was a member of Carolina Golf at Botany Woods. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his life long partner and best friend, Christie Shriver; his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Josh Hedden; her mother, Jean Bannister; a grandson, Kalobe Hedden; a brother, Al Banister; and an aunt, Jane Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville Shriner?s Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277 or to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 1:30 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens. A celebration of Joe?s life will be held at the residence, 205 Redcliffe Road, Greenville, immediately following. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
