Leroy Pittman, Jr

March 2, 1923 - March 25, 2008
Mr. Leroy Pittman, Jr. 85 of Greenville, SC was called to rest peacefully on March 25, 2008. He was born on March 2, 1923 in Liberty, SC, the eldest son of the late Leroy James Anthony Pittman, Sr. and Lois Johnson Pittman of Greenville, SC. In addition to his parents, his faithful wife of 65 years, Dora L. Pittman and his sister, Lucille Kennemore of Greenville, SC preceded him in death. Mr. Pittman served his country for over 20 years as a member of the USAF where he served as a cryptographic analyst. He was a veteran of WWII where he served with the 487th bomb group in Lavingham, England as well as service in Korea and Vietnam. He was a graduate of Parker High School, a 50 year and life member of the Brandon Lodge 279 AFM, and a life long member and Deacon of West Greenville Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons: Leroy J. Pittman III and his wife Patricia of Monroe, NC; Alwin G. Pittman and his wife Dorothy of Greenville, SC; and Donny R. Pittman and his wife Nancy of Chapin, SC; six grandchildren, Leroy J. Pittman IV and W. Robert Pittman both of Indian Trail, NC, Reverend Kendal K. Pittman of Monroe, NC, Dr. Jennifer R. Pittman of Athens, GA, Jason A. Pittman of Charleston, SC and Sarah E. Fox of Rock Hill, SC; seven great grandchildren, Benjamin Pittman, Jessica Pittman, Skylar Pittman, Eli Pittman, Kaila Pittman, and Victoria Pittman all of Indian Trail, NC, and Olivia Pittman of Monroe, NC; his sister, Carolyn Kimbrell of Fort Smith, AR and brother, Reverend Fred Wilton Pittman of Marietta, SC. Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at West Greenville Baptist Church with the Reverend James Tollison and Reverend Wilton Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West. Pallbearers will be Leroy Pittman IV, Robert Pittman, Kendal Pittman, Benjamin Pittman, Jason Pittman and Andrew Fox.
