Lewis Murphree

March 4, 1940 - November 28, 2012
Lewis Murphree, 72, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was a true entrepreneur, having founded the Mr. Alternator shops. He was a former Marine, Mason and a 31 year member of the Gamecock Club. An avid golfer, Mr. Murphree enjoyed playing with friends at Wild Dunes and Lake View Golf Clubs and spending time at his beach house in Wild Dunes, where fishing was a favorite pastime. He was of the Methodist faith. He was the loving husband of 53 years of Jean Morgan Murphree; devoted father of two daughters and one son: Jenny Knight Randall, Tina Goins Keith and Curt Murphree Tracy; a grandson, Bill Hughey; and two great granddaughters, Lauren and Anna. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Private services will follow. The family will be at the residence.
