Mrs. Lois Addington Hitt Craigo died March 26, 2013, after having a heart attack a few days earlier. She was 87 years old and lived a happy and fulfilling life until the very end. She was blessed to have been married to Leroy Franklin Craigo, who died in 1981. She was the daughter of Robert Henry Addington, Sr., and Gladys Finley Addington of Easley, South Carolina. Mrs. Craigo graduated from Easley High School and later received a degree from Draughon's Business College. She retired from Furman University in June, 1990, after 29 years of service, the last 12 as assistant registrar. She loved her time there. Mrs. Craigo was a long-time active member of City View Baptist Church, and particularly enjoyed her Sunday mornings with the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She devoted herself to the church and taught Sunday School, Training Union and Vacation Bible School. She served as the Baptist Women's and Keen-Agers president, WMU director and was on the baptismal committee for years. Mrs. Craigo was blessed to have had the company of particularly wonderful friends throughout her life. The family will be forever grateful for the companionship of James Bryant, who passed away several years ago, and Norton White who was at her side until the end. Mrs. Craigo resided at Sweetgrass Village in Mt. Pleasant for the past five years and was surrounded by loving and caring staff members and friends. Her time there was filled with happiness. Mrs. Craigo's first husband, James Hitt, whom she married when she was 16 years old, was killed during World War II. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and we will miss her very much. Mrs. Craigo is survived by her daughter, Karen Craigo Edwards, and son-in-law, Donnie R. Edwards, of Mt. Pleasant, SC: grandson, Winston David Holliday, Jr. and his wife, Dr. Kimberly J. Holliday, of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Kristina Lois Glenn and her husband, Joe Glenn, of Fountain Hills, Arizona; grandson, Michael Justin Edwards, of Rolesville, NC; great granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Holliday and Ella Morgan Glenn; and great grandsons, John Winston Jack Holliday and James David Holliday; sister, Kimberly Addington Rodgers, and her husband, Walter F. Rodgers, of Mauldin, SC; and brother, Robert Henry Addington, Jr. deceased of Powdersville, SC; beloved nieces, Beverly Raye Ford, Darlene Pullium and Reba Looney. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the visitation one hour prior to the service.
