Gwendolyn "Gwen" Pennington Long, peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord Friday, March 6, 2009. Born in the Taylors area, she was the daughter of the late Charles Monroe and Willie Mae Stewart Pennington. Mrs. Long was a retired teacher with Greenville County School System and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Clarence Long in 1948. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Schroeder Neil of Phoenix, AZ, a son, David Long of Greenville; a granddaughter, Lydia Stover Alex of Phoenix, AZ; and a grandson, Grant Schroeder of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Patricia Lynn and Katherine, a brother, Dave M. Pennington; and grandson, Peter Schroeder. Thanks to Ashlan Village and Winyah Hospice for their love and care of our mother. Memorials may be made to Winyah Hospice, 818 E. Main St., Greenville, SC 29302. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009 from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Simpsonville, SC with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
