Louise Skinner, 96, widow of Fred M. Skinner, of Greenville, passed away peacefully June 20, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Claudis and Esther Duncan.
For most of her life, Louise was an active member of Laurel Baptist Church. During World War II, she worked at Max Heller’s shirt factory manufacturing military uniform garments for soldiers. She also was employed by Belk’s Department store at several locations in Greenville.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra S. Gaskin and Lou Ann Burns; five grandchildren, Jennifer Gaskin, of Colorado Springs, CO, Tonia Squires, of Fayetteville, AR; Rev. Scott Burns, of Cincinnati, OH, Ryan Burns, of Greenville, and Reed Skinner, of Greenville; and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Louise was preceded in death by a son, Gary Skinner.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Laurel Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The church has handicapped access, including an elevator. A private family burial will be held.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hawthorne Assisted Living and GHS fifth floor doctors and nurses for their kindness.
