Lucius Delk

Lucius Delk, age 103, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Lucius was born October 16, 1907, in Liberty County, GA. Lucius graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1927 and Clemson University, Class of 1932. Lucius was in management of dying and finishing in the textile industry. After retiring from textiles, Lucius was administrator, First Presbyterian Church in Danville, VA, for 16 years. He also served as an Army officer in WWII and retired from the US Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. Lucius was a member of First Presbyterian Church Greenville, where he also served as a Deacon and Elder. Lucius is survived by his brother David Chandler Delk, Sr.; two children, daughter Beverly Delk Trytten and husband Dean and son Lucius Sanford Delk and wife Irma, all located in Greenville County. There are two grandchildren, Christine Delk Stowe and her husband Tim Stowe and Dana Trytten and his wife Becky; three great grandchildren, Mara Stowe, Christopher Stowe and Alyssa Stowe. Lucius was predeceased by his father John Andrews Delk and his mother Annie Chandler Delk; wife Margaret Eloise Chapman Delk; and brothers Shelton Vandiver Delk, John Andrews J.A. Delk, and
Charles Marion Delk. Visitation will take place in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 1:30 – 2:45 p.m., followed by the service in Harper Chapel at 3:00 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Dr. Randolph Kowalski and Rev. Dr. Pam Cole. There will be a brief graveside service for family only at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Greenville, 200 W.
