Marie Rice, 66, of 8 Elletson Drive, wife of John Edward Rice, Jr., died Monday, May 5, 2008 at her residence. Born in Ava, MO, she was the daughter of the late Clovis Cleveland and Helen Margaret Hinkley Smith. Mrs. Rice was a homemaker and member of Faith Baptist Church, Taylors. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter and son-in-law, Teri and David McDuffie of Westfield, IN; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Darrol D. Rice of Union, John L. and Joanne Rice of Greenville, Ken E. and Ruth Rice of Tullahoma, TN; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two brothers, Grover Smith of Kingman, AZ and Larry Smith of Val Paraiso, FL. Memorials may be made to Hidden Treasures Christian School, 500 W. Lee Road, Taylors, SC 29687. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
