Marlin Sandri

April 20, 1916 - February 15, 2005
Marlin ?Motz? Sandri, 88, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of 1180 Haywood Road died Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at his residence. Formerly of Shamokin, PA, he was the widower of Elizabeth Amidon Sandri, his wife of 56 years. Born in Shamokin, PA, he was a son of the late David and Carmella Moratti Sandri. Mr. Sandri retired as a CW04 from the United States Air Force after 30 years. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He attended St. Mary?s Catholic Church and formerly attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Shamokin, PA. Mr. Sandri was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Shamokin, PA, American Legion Post 231 in Kulpmont, PA as well as the Main Fire Hose Company in the Coal Township, PA. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Greenville, SC. Surviving are two daughters: Patricia Sandri Smialek of Williamsburg, VA and Catherine Sandra Sandri Miros and her husband, Michael D. of Greenville; a brother, Howard Sandri and his wife, Theresa of Shamokin, PA; five grandchildren: Michael J. Miros and his wife, Valerie of Greenville, Andrew W. Smialek and his wife, Jennifer of Dublin, OH, Elizabeth M. Sawicki and her husband, Don of Greenville, Lisa Marlene Black and her husband, James of Leonardtown, MD and Christopher Sandri Miros of Rock Hill, SC; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Saturday Bag Lunch Program, St. Mary?s Catholic Church, 111 Hampton Avenue, Greenville, SC 29601. A Vigil Service will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 7:00 PM with visitation to follow until 8:30 PM. A visitation will be held in Shamokin, PA on Tuesday February 22, 2005 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the Vigil and Rosary at 8:00 PM at Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., Shamokin, PA. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Shamokin, PA on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
