McNally Reeves

McNally Reeves, 92, passed from this life on April 13, 2013 to sing in the heavenly choir of his Lord. He founded Mac Reeves Company in 1956, incorporated in 1964, and was active in the business until he closed it in 2010. He was a past president of the Piedmont Mechanical Contractors Association. He was a member of Laurel Baptist Church for over sixty years where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, in prayer ministry and in his favorite place, a member of the choir. He served his country in WWII, as a deep sea diver in the Navy. His basic training was off the east coast of Rhode Island and he was posted on various ships doing deep sea repairs on ships and submarines. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Louise Miller Reeves, who passed away November 9, 2000 and an infant son, Ronald Mack Reeves. Traveling and golfing were his favorite pastimes. He and his wife made many trips in their Newell Coach across the United States and up and down the east and west Coast. He was born August 30, 1920 in Canton, NC to the late McNally and Stella Westmoreland Reeves. He was predeceased by a brother, Carl Reeves; and sisters, Ruby Reeves VanHook, Reva Reeves Sayles and Ann Reeves Jackson. Mr. Reeves, a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, is survived by daughters, Gertie and John Mullis, Janie and Edward Jones, Peggie Reeves, Dale and B.K. Sutton, Maxine and Jon Marshall and Terrie Reeves and her fiancé, Roger Pannell; granddaughters, Cameron and Marty Baltzegar, Jennifer Marshall and Troy Jaikaran, Kelly Marshall and Michael Grant; grandsons, John "Jay" and Dominique D'Agostino Mullis II, Patrick McNally Mullis, Charles Michael Seabolt, II, Sean Reeves Marshall; great granddaughter, Tori Grace Mullis; great grandsons, McNally Reeves Mullis, Jacob Reeves Baltzegar and Connor Joseph Baltzegar; siblings, Jack Daniel Reeves, Hazel Reeves Edmunds and Margie Reeves Ferriss; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Corrine Hicks, who always put a spring in his step and a light in his eyes. Many of his nephews worked with him in his business and he loved them all. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Laurel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
