Mendel Stroud

January 25, 1926 - June 23, 2014
Mendel Durwood Stroud, 88, husband of Kathryn Stroud, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Walter Grady and Shirley Wilson Stroud. Mendel was a retired Insurance agent for Met Life. He was a member of the Piedmont Lion's Club. He was a life-long member of Welcome Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for a number of years. Mendel loved basketball and played for the Dunean Textile League Team. He also enjoyed golf, and met many friends, playing at Lakeview Golf Course. He was blessed to have many close friends during his lifetime that meant so much to him and his family. In addition to his wife of 64 years he is survived by daughters; Jana Muller and her husband Ross, LeAnn Seawell and her husband Tony; three grandchildren; Christie and her husband Shad, Ben and his wife Erin,
Layne and her husband Raphael; and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mendel was preceded in death by his sister, Frances McNeely; and brothers, Robert, Ralph, Walter "Duck", Dan, and Kenneth Stroud. Private services were held Friday, June 27, 2014. Memorial
