Minnie Burchfield

Minnie B. Burchfield, 91, resident of Taylors, SC, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Woodrow B. Burchfield, in 2003. She was born in Hinsdale, N.H. in 1921, the daughter of Carlo and Vita Agosta Bucossi of Brattleboro, Vermont, where she lived until the family moved to Greenville, SC in 1958. Minnie was a long time member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where both she and Woodie were active in the Seniors Group. She was active in many of the church's charitable activities including collecting clothing and food for the homeless in Greenville. She also loved making a variety of crafts, which she donated to help raise funds for several charitable organizations. In addition, she taught English as a second language for many years. After working thirty years as a tax auditor with the Internal Revenue Service, Minnie retired in 1989. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends, including the Ladies Lunch Bunch of Prince of Peace and her new friends at Homewood Residence at Cleveland Park. In addition to her crafting, her many hobbies included painting, crocheting, reading and working crossword puzzles. She is survived by one sister, Ann Dessaint of Windsor Locks, CT; her two daughters, Karen B. Eachus Ted C. and Sheila B. Kearse, both of Greenville; her two granddaughters Casey Kearse Ahmed Abran of Fort Mill, SC, and Leigh Kearse Whitaker Bryan of Greenville; and her great grandson, Beckett, who brought her so much joy. The family will have a private Right of Committal at Woodlawn Memorial Park. A Memorial Mass to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
