Phil Slaton, 81, of 33 Kay Drive, husband of Margaret Clark Slaton, died Sunday, January 18, 2009. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Charley Lindsey and Willie Alice Kindley Slaton. Phil was retired from the garment industry as a pattern grader and was a faithful member of Donaldson Church of God. He was a United States Army veteran. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Deanne Foister and her husband, Bobby, Jr. of Travelers Rest; a son, Dennis Glenn Slaton of the home; three brothers, Paul and J.M. Slaton both of Pendleton, Albert Slaton of Townville; three grandchildren, Erin Slaton, Nicklaus and Heather Foister; and one great granddaughter, Izabella Slaton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Donaldson Church of God. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church with the Reverend Patrick H. Dye and the Reverend C. Eddie Allen officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Slaton. He was a very nice man. I used to work for Henry Mashburn's office about 5 years ago and Mr. Slaton would come in the office a lot. He will be missed.
