Randy Batson, Sr., 49, of 114 Rogers Avenue, husband of Cathy Lynn Smerdon Batson, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Selma, AL, he was the son of Shirley Keeler Batson and the late Jim Batson. Mr. Batson was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two sons, Timothy R. Batson, Jr. and wife, Alicia, and M. Justin Batson; two brothers, Frank and John Batson; and four grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, T. Chad Batson and a daughter-in-law, Kandys W. Batson. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence.
