Sarah B. Jennings, 107, of Greenville, widow of John W. Jennings, died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at A.G. Rhodes Health and Rehab, in Atlanta, GA. Born in Mooresville, North Carolina, November 29, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Morrison and Bessie Bernice McNeely Brawley. Mrs. Jennings graduated from the Woman's College of North Carolina, now UNC Greensboro, and began her teaching career in Gastonia, North Carolina, where she met and married John Wesley Jennings of Greenwood, South Carolina. In 1934 they moved to Greenville where Mr. Jennings founded Jennings-Dill mechanical contractors. In the early 1920's, Mrs. Jennings, her father and her brother travelled through the Western United States in an open Buick touring car, often camping out as they travelled across the open country where no roads existed. Sarah maintained that spirit of adventure throughout her life. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Jennings Maxwell, of Charleston and Sallie Jennings Patterson, of Atlanta; grandchildren, John Patrick Maxwell, of Charleston, Catherine Ann Heston, of North Chareston, Dennis D. Maxwell, Jr., of Asheville and James O. Patterson III, of Atlanta; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by granddaughter, Wesley Ann Patterson; and four brothers. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
