Sister Mary Frances Johnson O.S.C

Sister Mary Francis Johnson, O.S.C., 81, of 1916 N. Pleasantburg Drive, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005. Born in Lafayette, IN., she was the daughter of the late Otis L. and Gladys Mary Vaughn Johnson. Sister attended St. Francis College and received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Lafayette, IN. She was the operating room supervisor at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. before entering the Monastery of St. Clare in Greenville. She received the holy habit, making her simple profession in 1957 and her solemn profession in 1960. Surviving are a sister, Phyllis Johnson Harrison; two nieces, Peggy Gibson and Karla Koles-Galindl; a nephew, John Allen Payne; great niece, Heather Bradford; and great nephew, Steven Gibson. Memorials may be made to the Monastery of St. Clare, 1916 N. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 01, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Monastery of Saint Clare chapel. Burial will follow in the monastery cemetery
