Virginia Bruce

Virginia Bruce, 92, wife of the late John I. Bruce, Jr., died on Friday, October 24, 2014. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Roy Augustus and Willie Snyder Looper. Mrs. Bruce was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church where she was also the former church Treasurer. She was also a master quilter. She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Orr and husband, John of Easley, and daughter-in-law, Erin Bruce of Manchester, TN; three grandchildren, Rachel McDowell and husband, Scott of Cary, NC, John Bruce and wife, Rachel of Manchester, TN, and Katie Bruce of Smyrna, TN; two great grandchildren, Sean Edmond and Eleanor Virginia "Ellie" McDowell; and sister, Betty Barham of Wake Forest, NC. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Frank Bruce; and four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Foothills Presbyterian Community Chapel Fund, 205 Bud Nalley Dr., Easley, SC 29642.
