Alice Theresa (Underwood) Ruffman

October 27, 1923 ~ November 4, 2018 (age 95)

Alice Theresa Ruffman, 95, widow of Charles Ruffman, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Born in Biddeford, Maine on October 27, 1923, she was the oldest of 10 children to Harold and Ellen Underwood.

Alice went to school at Thornton Academy in Biddeford. She married Charles Ruffman on September 18, 1944 in San Diego, California. Alice worked numerous jobs over her lifetime, most recently for Sears where she retired at the age of 85. She attended Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Greenville, SC.

Alice is survived by a son, Matthew Ruffman and his wife Michelle; a grandson, Matthew Ruffman II and his wife Cara; two granddaughters, Nicole D. Reeve and her husband Ryan, and Kim Spain; two great granddaughters, Callie Ruffman and Sienna Reeve; a brother, Robert Underwood and his wife Peggy; and a sister, Dorothy Boudreau.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Spain; three sisters, Rita Petrin, Mary Styles, Kathleen Boisneault; and four brothers, Harold Underwood, Joseph Underwood, Donald Underwood, and David Underwood.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the visitation following until 8:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
