Robert “Bobby” Ryan Taylor, 74, husband of Nancy Batson Taylor, of Greenville, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019.
Born in Clarksville, GA, he was the son of the late Lawrence Charles and Sammie Elizabeth Bingham Taylor.
Bobby served in the United States Navy and was the owner of Bobby Taylor Tires, Inc. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church, Wade Hampton Masonic Lodge where he was Past Master, and the Hejaz Shrine where he served on the director’s staff. Bobby also served on the board of Shriner’s Hospital for several years.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three children, Cindy Chemell (Louie), Amy Amyette (Jordan), and Ryan Taylor (Stephanie); two stepchildren, Marc Hudgens (Carol Ann) and Eric Hudgens; nine grandchildren, Taylor Chemell, Corinne Amyette, Rivers Amyette, Landon Taylor, Ethan Hudgens, Drew Hudgens, Wilt Chemell, Audrey Humlan, and Lou Chemell; two sisters, Almena Simon (Tom) and Debbie Demore (Howard); two sisters-in-law, Debbie Moody (Mike) and Nancy Batson; and a brother-in-law, Mel Batson (Susan).
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Tommy Batson; and a nephew, Chris Simon.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Downtown chapel. The burial will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
