David Harold Roper, Sr., 85, husband of Joan Kelley Roper, of Greenville, died Saturday, November 2, 2019.
Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Timothy Aaron Roper and Ainslie Felder Roper.
David graduated from Greenville High School in 1952. He was a retired Capital Equipment Manager for the Greenville Hospital System. He was a member of Recovery Masonic Lodge, the Hejaz Shrine, and Greenville Elk’s Club #858.
In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, David is survived by two sons; Hal and his wife Donna Roper, a granddaughter, Evin Roper Symmes and her husband Andrew; and Tim “Fish” Roper; a sister, Mary Florence and her husband Joe Harvey; a brother, William Riddle Roper; and his special canine companion, Missy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Roper.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
