Doris Wilson Galloway

Doris Wilson Galloway, 86, of 12 Norwood Street, wife of the late Charles Benson Galloway, Jr., died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at McCall Hospice House. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Norman Stokes and Hassie Dean Wilson. Mrs. Galloway worked for Palmetto Box Company, was a member of Monaghan United Methodist Church, and was a Past Worthy Matron of Monaghan Chapter 82 OES. She is survived by a son, Mickey Lawson and wife, Elizabeth; four grandchildren, Dr. Scott Lawson, Kelley Pettus, Steve Galloway, and Tiffany Daniels; two great grandchildren, Ashley Pettus, and Hannah Fatty; two sisters, Vivian Orr and Joyce Knight; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Randolph Benson Galloway. The family would like to thank Mike Worthy and Anne Darnell who cared for her in the home along with Linda Williams, as well as Open Arms Hospice, McCall Hospice House, and all the special angels who work and care for the patients. Memorials may be made to Monaghan United Methodist Church, 2 McBeth Street, Greenville, SC 29611. Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 from 12:00 until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park.
