Dorothy Ruth Smith Foxx, 83, of Piedmont, wife of the late William Ray Foxx, died Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Born in Piedmont, SC, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Ellen Brown Smith.
Mrs. Foxx enjoyed crafting, painting and Clemson Tiger Sports and was a member of Piedmont United Methodist Church. She retired after many years of service as an ER Nurse at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Foxx and wife, Regina; her son, Terry Foxx and wife, Dee; eight grandchildren: Justin Foxx and wife, Payton; Emily Stewart-Foxx and husband, Tyler; Matthew Foxx; Kaylin Buckley and husband Ryan; Joshua Hall; Breana Albertson; Jeannie Charlton and husband, Michael; Elizabeth Collins and husband, Stewart; two great grandchildren: Connor Hall and Kharis Buckley; one brother: Jim Smith and wife, Maxine; three sisters: Mary Ellen Rardon and husband, Earl; Elaine Evans and husband, Marshall; Maxine Thomas and husband, Ray; and two special cousins: Becky Johnson and Jerry Brown.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 13 from 12:00 until 1:15 p.m. and the funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel. Burial will take place at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Lilac Cottage, Brushy Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, for the care extended to their mother.
