Douglas Marshbanks, 80, beloved husband, daddy, grandaddy and great grandaddy was born April 4, 1939 and went to be home with the Lord on November 26, 2019. He was the son of the late George Washington and Helen Evans Marshbanks.
Mr. Marshbanks served in the U.S. Army and retired from Hoechst-Celanese. He was a member of American Legion Post 3. He was a member of Forestville Baptist Church as well as active part of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. He was known and loved by many as the “Flower Man” due to his love for flowers as displayed in his yard as well as in his silk floral arrangements.
Mr. Marshbanks is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sarah E. Marshbanks, son, William Marshbanks (Katina), two daughters, Anna Harley (Dana), Tracy Odom (Eric), six grandchildren, Amanda Nugent (Matt), Heather Harley, Hunter Harley, Michael Odom, Charity Odom (Zach), and Will Odom, two great grandchildren, Raven Odom and Freya Odom, three brothers, Andrew Marshbanks, Larry Marshbanks, and Johnny Marshbanks, one sister Lib Wellmon, four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Randy Marshbanks, brother, Wayman Marshbanks and sister, Connie Carnell.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will be held in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
