George Anthony Cheros, 64, husband of Cheryl Ramage Cheros, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 11, 2019.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Anthony George and Eva Athens Cheros.
George graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and he was a member at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
George was born and raised in Greenville and then moved to Seneca when he opened up Paw’s Diner in 1998. He also started up Pete’s on Poinsett in 1979, previously owned Auntie Ann’s Kitchen and was part owner of Gold’s Gym of Greenville. He loved bass fishing and won many bass tournaments.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Anthony Cheros; stepson, Jarred Ramage and wife, Leila; god-daughter, Stacey Hester; brother, Kim Anthony Cheros and wife, Anna; sister, Sophia Cheros Plagakis and husband, Spiros; and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the Trisagion at 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
A funeral service will be held Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
