George Heer, 93, husband of the late Mary “Marnee” Heer, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at McCall Hospice.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was a son of the late Walter J. Heer and Ottilie Schmitt.
Mr. Heer earned a BS degree from Seton Hall University and a Master’s degree from Northeastern University. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed bowling, curling, and gardening. Mr. Heer retired from Lockheed/Martin, Sanders Division and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church at North Main Street, Greenville, SC. He was also a member of Clifton Lodge No. 205 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Consistory of the Valley of Northern New Jersey and Salaam Shriners International at Livingston, NJ. Mr. Heer was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
