Jeanne Gaines

Jeanne Hill Gaines, 93, widow of Charles E. Gaines, Sr., of Travelers Rest, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at her home.

Born in Florence, she was the daughter of the late Johnson and Eunice May Hill.

Jeanne attended USC, drove a Greenville County Library bookmobile for many years, and was a member of Travelers Rest United Methodist Church. She was loving, courageous, hardworking, and a true Southern Lady. Jeanne loved gardening, flowers, tea parties, beaches, friends, her family, and the Lord. She will be greatly missed.

Jeanne is survived by her children Evelyn Wilkinson (Jack), of Candler, NC, Patricia Smith (Jimmy), of Travelers Rest, and Frank Gaines (Sue), of Taylors; her grandchildren, Michele Willis, Adam Gaines, Clarke Smith, Emily Templeton, Shauna Biggerstaff, Meredith Porter, Caitlin Holloway, and Hayley Pandolph; and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by her son Charles Gaines, Jr., and his wife, Linda Gaines.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Graceland East Memorial Park with a visitation following the service.
