Jerry Thomas Steele, 73, husband of Mary Jane Dickson Steele, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Born in Rock Hill, he was the son of the late Thomas Eugene and Lula Bess Anderson Steele. Mr. Steele was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired Production Manager for Cooper Standard Automotive. He had formerly worked for Daniel Construction, Wunda Weve Carpet Company and Asten, Inc. He graduated from Winthrop Training School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Management from Clemson A & M College. He was a very active member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher and was currently President of the Roundtable Sunday School Class and held many leadership roles. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Timothy Dickson Steele and wife Rena Parkins Steele of Simpsonville and Daniel Thomas Steele of Greenville; a daughter, Susan Steele Rodewoldt and husband Frederick Willy Rodewoldt III of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Steele, Colin Alexander Steele, April Kelly Steele, James Thomas Steele, Emily Taylor Steele, and Frederick Willy Rodewoldt IV; a sister, Clara Steele Sugar of Wantagh, NY; and many nieces and nephews In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buncombe Street United Methodist Church Organ Restoration Fund, 200 Buncombe Street, Greenville, SC 29601. A memorial service will be held at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 1 p.m. with visitation following the service.
