Joe Michael Rhoden

May 18, 1955 ~ October 1, 2019 (age 64)

Joe Michael Rhoden, 64, husband of Dorothy “Dottie” Rhoden, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Doris Rhoden of Taylors, and the late T.L. Rhoden, Jr.

Joe was a 1973 graduate of Parker High School and a member of Highland Baptist Church. He worked for many years at Milliken & Company as a Dye House Development Coordinator and his hard work there earned him several awards presented by the company. He was an avid outdoorsman whose passion was running, having run four separate marathons and earning medals for running many 10k races around the Greenville area. Joe also loved fishing, gardening, biking, and watching NHRA drag racing.

Joe developed a rare neurological disease in his later years, Cerebellar Ataxia. He was in a power chair for several years before his passing. Joe loved the Lord and knew that Jesus would welcome him home one day and that he would not only be able to walk, but to be able to run again if he wanted to.

In addition to his mother and loving wife of forty-four years, he is survived by his Aunt Mildred Nixon and cousin Earl Nixon; Aunt Sybil and Uncle Ray Howard; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also left behind his beloved cat, Chloe.

In addition to his father, Joe was preceded in death by an infant brother that he never knew, Kenneth Rhoden.
